I often find myself pondering on Hamlet’s infamous “To be or not to be” soliloquy when I consider the world of finance. As a young woman of color, it is evident that I, along with many others, do not fit the image of the ideal candidate to work in the finance industry. However, ATLAS Fellows works towards altering that narrative and creating an inclusive community where all backgrounds are invited. ATLAS also provides Fellows with impactful networking opportunities, a generous four-year scholarship and a welcoming community of like-minded peers and underrepresented individuals hoping to pursue a career in finance. ATLAS encouraged me “to be” the minority and woman of color in the conference room despite the existing stereotypes of the industry.
