Grace Deebom
I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to pursue, but I knew whatever I did, I had to be successful. Being the daughter of immigrants and the 1st born child, I was supposed to be the family’s role model. Though I am grateful for my parents’ sacrifices, it was difficult to find people who were in careers that I was interested in pursuing. I became interested in Finance towards the middle of my senior year. With the limited number of opportunities that people of color have in finance, I knew that I had to seize every opportunity. I became an ATLAS Fellow because I knew I’d be supported in every aspect of my academic and professional development. Not only does ATLAS provide resources such as internships at prestigious financial firms, mentorship, and monetary support, it also allows me to join a community of highly intellectual individuals from diverse backgrounds.
