ATLAS Graduate Profile: Brian

After Brian graduates from the University of Michigan this spring, he will begin his career in investment banking at UBS. From an internship at Baird to his involvement with ATLAS, here is Brian’s story.

Which summer internship most impacted your professional growth?

My experience with Baird helped me tremendously in growing confidence as a professional. My direct involvement with the team’s written research for clients can be attributed to Baird’s emphasis on helping interns grow. Even as the youngest person in the room, my team was always there to help me, and I felt that my work mattered.

Is there anyone along the way who has become a mentor to you?

Orville Thomas is not only a supporter of ATLAS, but he has also been there to support me as a mentor throughout my internships at UBS. He has encouraged and empowered me while also challenging me to improve and be the best version of myself. I have been fortunate to have a mentor who understands what ATLAS is about and deeply cares about the success of Fellows.

Graduation is around the corner! What comes to mind when you reflect on your time with ATLAS?

I can’t graduate without thinking about the impact ATLAS has had on my success and the opportunities it has opened up within UBS. Looking back, when I first entered the program as a recent high school graduate, I did not fully grasp how life-changing ATLAS could be for me or how meaningful the program is to under-resourced students. The doors that ATLAS has helped me walk through are priceless, and it is incredible to see how far those opportunities have taken me.
